They suggested that she should create her own tape line someday, and that remark stuck with her ever since. Now, you might be wondering, what exactly is pancaking? Well, it's the process of applying skin-colored makeup to dancewear to achieve a desired color or appearance from a distance on stage.

 

As a professional dancer and someone who has dealt with hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) for most of her life, she often relied on tape for added resistance and to prevent slipping during performances. But let's take a moment to explain what hyperhidrosis is. It's a condition characterized by excessive sweating caused by overstimulation of cholinergic receptors on eccrine glands. This means that I sweat more than what is necessary for regulating body temperature.

 

For years, she struggled to find tape that matched her skin tone, and she was certain that many active individuals, dancers, sports athletes, and anyone in need of skin tone tape can attest to this as well. Before every performance, she had to spend a significant amount of time applying tape in a lighter shade, followed by foundation, and then waiting for it to dry before stepping onto the stage. A process that became tiresome and expensive.
