How Does Kinesiology Tape Provide Muscle Relief?
Kinesiology tape has become increasingly popular among athletes and fitness enthusiasts, but what exactly is it and how does it help with muscle relief? In this article, we'll explore the...
The idea for HUETAPE had been quietly growing in Tamisha A. Guy’s mind for years. It all started with a casual comment from a friend and fellow performer, who watched her go through her pre-show “pancaking” routine and said, “You should start your own tape line someday.” That single sentence stuck—and eventually became the foundation for HUETAPE.
Pancaking is the process of applying skin-toned makeup to dancewear to help it blend seamlessly on stage. For performers, it’s a familiar (and often frustrating) ritual. But for our founder—an accomplished dancer who also lives with hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)—pancaking wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was essential to feel secure and confident under the spotlight. Tape became her go-to solution for grip and support, but finding the right color? That was always a challenge.
For years, Tamisha searched for tape that truly matched her skin tone—and she knew she wasn’t alone. Dancers, athletes, performers, and everyday movers of color were left with limited options: using tape that was too light, layering it with foundation, and hoping it would hold up through sweat and movement. It was time-consuming, costly, and far from ideal. HUETAPE was created to change that.
Our mission is to offer high-quality, skin tone-inclusive tape that delivers both performance and representation. We’re here to serve the unique needs of melanated individuals—those who have long been overlooked in the world of activewear and performance gear.
